Eric – Rescue Sheep Portrait
(Print details below)
Eric isn’t just a subject – he’s the beginning of something, he represents empathy rooted in a very real story.
As the first rescue sheep at Surge Sanctuary, he became part of the foundation for what it is today: a space built on care, protection, and a different way of relating to farm animals. He’s also their logo, which makes his presence instantly recognisable to those who know their work.
This portrait was created in connection with that story. The original painting was gifted to Unity Diner in Spitalfields, where it can continue to support the sanctuary and its mission.
For me, pieces like this come from a shift in how I see animals – not as part of a category, but as individuals with their own presence, relationships, and experience of the world.
When you purchase a print of this piece, 30% of the profit will be donated directly to Surge Sanctuary to support the ongoing care of their rescued animals.
